Cayman IslandsThe old sea based sectors such as shipping and fishing have been replaced by tourism and finance as the main sources for the Islands economy, with many islanders employed in one or the other. The Cayman Islands attracts many international companies and citizens to relocate as a result of its success in the tourism and financial service industries.

The prosperity of the Cayman Islands originates from the distinction of having over 25,000 registered companies, and over 500 international financial institutions situated on their shores. The Cayman Islands have a unique registering system that allows businesses to be legitimately registered by just paying a fee. It’s no wonder the Cayman Islands are a safe haven for offshore investments which offer lucrative tax shelters.

The seas around the Caymans are one of the best in the world for water activities. There are many providers that can help to make the most of the seas, including snorkelling, diving, fishing and sailing. Scuba diving and snorkelling are the most favoured tourist activities in Cayman Islands especially at the Stingray City, the world’s best spot for a 10-foot dive. At Stingray City can also enjoy the adventure of swimming with many sea creatures.

Another prime attraction in the Caymans includes its powder-white sand which stretches out into the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Tiny reefs are often found off the shore and are favourite spot for snorkelers. Man-made reefs found in island resorts of the beach are also loved by beginners where numerous marine life forms are also artificially taken care in big marine aquariums.

Award-winning film-maker Jill is on a High over Bermuda caverns ...

BERMUDA'S underwater caverns are to be mapped as part of an ambitious project involving one of the world's foremost cave divers. Likely to showcase regions of the island never seen before, the study will be completed over the next year, its various stages filmed as a documentary Bermuda High.
Bermuda's schoolchildren will be invited to participate in the monumental task, presented with special technology that will enable them to track the movements of the divers from above ground. The project is being driven by the Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo, former natural history curator Wolfgang Sterrer and cave expert Tom Iliffe.
To aid its completion, they've brought onboard an award-winning film-maker who also happens to be one of the world's top cave divers Jill Heinerth. This week she spoke with Mid-Ocean News reporter HEATHER WOOD and photographer GLENN TUCKER about her underwater exploits.

Toyota Kicks Big Butt In J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., June 7 -- The way in which technology is integrated into new-vehicle design, particularly interior features and controls, is considered by consumers to be as important to quality as are defects and malfunctions, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Initial Quality Study(SM) (IQS) released today. The study is in its 20th year.

The Initial Quality Study, which serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership, has been completely redesigned for 2006 to capture problems experienced by owners in two distinct categories -- quality of design and quality of production (defects and malfunctions).

"New vehicles today are often packed with new technologies that unfortunately can be complicated and frustrating for the average consumer when their integration is not well executed," said Joe Ivers, executive director of quality and customer satisfaction research for J.D.

City Council adjusts billboard code

Prompted by the arrival in the region of a lawyer known for suing towns over billboards, Arden Hills leaders Monday night tweaked their sign code as a precaution.

The changes unanimously approved by the City Council will have little effect on the scenery of the suburb, which is sliced by Interstate 694, U.S. 10 and Minnesota 96 and bounded by I-35W. But that's a good thing, said city planner James Lehnhoff, since all those roads are fertile ground for planting building-sized billboards and the city didn't want to be forced to accept a bumper crop if a court found its code unconstitutional.

Atlanta attorney E. Adam Webb hasn't filed or threatened to file any lawsuits against Arden Hills, but he has filed more than 100 suits nationwide against communities, including Hopkins and Eden Prairie.
